FAQ's

What type of complaints can be sent?

Everything from feuds to flatulence! Our liaison team sees a full spectrum of complaints. Almost anything can be sent via a "Karen Call" but more serious complaints often involve allegations of discrimination, harassment, bullying, or breaches of workplace laws. Common issues can also include complaints related to pay, entitlements, and general employment conditions.

Will this fix my problem?

OAA can never guarantee that your complaint will create change within your workplace, ultimately this is at the discretion of your managers/employers. However, we always encourage employers to carefully assess anonymous complaints to determine if further action is required and do our best to make sure the matter is taken seriously.

How long does it take to complete?

Most calls are completed within 2 business days but this is a guide only and will depend on your manager's availability to take the call.

Is it always anonymous?

Yes. Always. You are not even required to enter your real name when placing your order, so it would be impossible for us to provide said information to your employer. â€‹

Why should I speak up?

The fact that you have come this far suggests that you may have information your organisation/company needs to know about. Your feedback could be the piece of the puzzle your employer need to make lasting change within your workplace. We see (on a daily basis) scenarios whereby our client's complaints have been the catalyst for an extreme overhaul of workplace procedures, recruitment requirements, HR policies and much more.

Will I receive a recording of the call?

In Australia, recording a phone call without the consent of all parties is generally illegal. The Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth) makes it a federal offense to intercept or record any conversation conducted over a telecommunication system without consent. This includes the subsequent transcription of that recording.

How will I know when the call has been completed?

You will receive an email update upon completion of the call. We will also provide feedback regarding the outcome of the call.

Who will receive my complaint?

Your liaison will only ever discuss your complaint with the manager's name you specify on your order.

What information do you need?

When submitting your complaint, it is important to provide as much detail as possible to give your employer the best possible chance to investigate the matter fully - even if it doesn't seem relevant.

Examples include but are not limited to;

Names of people involved

Witnesses

Dates & times

Places & events

If theft or fraud, how much money do you think is involved and where has it gone etc.

If property, has it been removed from the workplace or is it about to be. Has the property been sold or is it being stored pending sale etc.

The above mentioned are examples only and it remains your choice what is included in your complaint however the more ambiguous your submission, the harder it is for management to investigate and rectify.

What are my choices regarding identity disclosure?

You have 3 choices regarding revealing your identity;

1. You may wish to remain 100% anonymous to both your liaison and manager by providing a fake name on your submission

2. You may wish to provide your real name on your submission, which will be shared with your liaison ONLY (not your employer)

3. You may wish to reveal your identity to your liaison and your employer. To do this, you would need to specify as such in your complaint description as we will always hide your identity unless you tell us otherwise.

What is the extent of your involvement?

Occupational Affairs Agency (OAA) acts as an intermediary between the employee and employer for the sole purpose of relaying messages of complaint in a timely manner. We provide an anonymous link between said parties to facilitate the delivery of employee grievances anonymously -  but have no further involvement in any subsequent investigations or communications.

I have more questions, can I speak with someone first?

Sure! Head over to the contact page and send us your questions. One of our friendly team will get back to you ASAP.
